Introducing the First-Ever Lawyers Directory for Whistleblowers in Ontario

Whistleblowing - the act of disclosing illegal or unethical activities in organizations to someone who can do something about it - is crucial for maintaining integrity and accountability in public and private workplaces. A first step for whistleblowers is often to obtain legal advice. To address this critical need, we are pleased to introduce the first-ever Ontario Lawyers  Directory for Whistleblowers.  We hope to expand this Directory with the names of lawyers from other provinces as we identify them.

Empowering Whistleblowers with Legal Support

This directory is designed to support whistleblowers in Ontario by providing access to a network of dedicated lawyers. Whether you are facing retaliation, discrimination, or legal hurdles as a result of your disclosure, this directory will serve as a valuable resource for finding the legal assistance you need. Should you not find someone here, do not give up.  Continue by doing a regular internet search as there will be other lawyers outside this directory who will consider your case.  

How to use Ontario Lawyers Directory.

This directory is a resource to help you find legal support.  You should understand that because a name is in this directory, a lawyer will not automatically take your case.  However, they will consider your case based on the information your provide if your case in within their area of law they practice in.  If you can't find the right lawyer for you on this Directory, do not give up.  You can try searching the web for lawyers practicing in the area you are looking for, for example, employment law, personal injury law, etc.  You can also try the Law Society of whatever province you are in.

Each listing provides:

• Counsel Availability: Indicates the lawyer is willing to consider taking on whistleblower cases.
• Pro Bono Consult &/or Case: Shows if the lawyer offers a free initial consultation and/or will consider case representation. If a lawyer is unable to take your case on a pro bono basis, you might ask if they would consider taking your case on a contingency basis i.e. their fees will be paid from any award you may receive if you win your case. However, you would have to have a strong case that the lawyer believes is winnable, otherwise, they would not get paid. Further, if you are a self-represented litigant, you could ask if they would assist you with certain agreed upon tasks from time to time as you navigate the legal system, for example, coaching, or drafting certain documents etc.
• Contact Information: Includes phone numbers and email addresses for easy communication.
